At the mouth of the Eems, current speed and direction is monitored by two ADCPs mounted on a measurement pole. A disparity was observed between the current direction being registered by the ADCPs.

Aqua Vision was contracted by the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment (Rijkswaterstaat) to measure current speed in the vicinity of the measurement pole to provide an independent control measurement. The resulting current atlas shows the current pattern around the measurement pole.
