Westerschelde Discharge and Bathymetry

Last July, Aqua Vision carried out vessel-mounted ADCP and single beam echosounder (SBES) measurements on the Westerschelde near Antwerp. These 13-hour measurements, carried out during springtide, are part of an ongoing program for Rijkswaterstaat to monitor the tidally induced flow in the Westerschelde. Current velocities were obtained with the ADCP data using the latest version of ViSea DAS and used to create, among other things, current velocity profiles with ViSea DPS. Discharges were calculated with these current velocities and the corresponding flow areas. The SBES measurements were used to create precise depth profiles in order to monitor changes to the bottom profile.
