ROV mounted ADCP to 1300 m depth to assess riser stresses
To assess riser stresses Aqua Vision were recently contracted by NCS survey to carry out current velocity and direction monitoring in Norwegian waters. An ADCP was mounted on an ROV to measure current velocity and direction during four consecutive tidal cycles. The ROV was deployed to depths exceeding 1300 m! The results contain current velocity and direction variations during a full tidal cycle in deep waters. Data was real-time monitored by use of the in house developed so called Lowered ADCP Toolbox (LAT). ViSea LAT lets you display Full ocean depth current velocity and direction from L-ADCP data. Both coupled L-ADCPs (Master and Slave) and a single ROV-mounted ADCP can be displayed.
