The Nyabarongo is a major river in Rwanda. In rural Kigali the sugarcane crop is located in the vicinity of the Nyabarongo. Much of this land however, is situated on flood plains and almost half of it is uncultivated due to a very high risk of flooding and continuous water stagnation. As part of a larger programme, a new water management infrastructure project is now underway.

Aqua Vision BV was contracted by HaskoningDHV to deliver input for their numerical model. In a survey campaign of four days discharges and cross sections along the river were measured with the RiverBoat.
