Measurements at Zeegat Ameland with RWS

Rijkswaterstaat is in middle of a big project researching sediment fluxes around the island Ameland.  The area is of concern for the protection of the lower parts of the Netherlands against flooding. The goal is to reach an equilibrium in the amount of sediment, for which sand supplementations are done at specific locations. Aqua Vision is contributing to this project by measuring the water and sediment flow for two weeks using an ADCP and by taking water samples with our survey vessel the Potvis. Three more survey vessels of Rijkswaterstaat are measuring at different locations at the same time, as can be seen in this video made aboard the Scheurrak, explaining what is happening and why.
