Hydrographic measurements – Suppletion of the Upper River Rhine
The riverbed of the upper part of the River Rhine (Boven-Rijn; located between Pannerdensche Kop and the German border) is slowly lowering due to incision processes of the river. The Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment (Rijkswaterstaat) has started a pilot with sand suppletion along a stretch of around 5 km in the Upper Rhine. Part of this pilot, Aqua Vision is awarded to measure, at a bi-weekly interval, the bathymetry of the research area: before, during and after the suppletion Works. In addition to these survey works, the water level gradient (Dutch = verhanglijn) along the river is measured, as well as ADCP discharge along fixed cross-sections.
