Inside Sales Engineer

To further professionalise our commercial organisation, we are looking for an Inside Sales Engineer: the stable commercial backbone of the office and the connecting link between customers, field sales, and operations.
The Role
Within our commercial backbone, you will work closely with:
- Field Sales – market development, customer relationships, and new business;
- Tender Engineer – complex tenders and contractual processes;
- Project Support Officer – project administration and invoicing.
Together, you form a dynamic and growing Sales Team, where you provide the stable and proactive office-based foundation. As an Inside Sales Engineer, you ensure structure, standard quotations, follow-up, and quality throughout the pre-sales process.
What will you do?
- Actively support the field sales team in winning business through fast, structured, and high-quality follow-up of customer enquiries;
- Take ownership of standard quotations and pre-sales processes, while transferring complex tenders to the Tender Engineer in a timely manner;
- Be responsible for the support and operational handling of rental processes;
- Ensure a complete and accurate handover to the project team and Project Support Officer after project confirmation.
Responsibilities
First Point of Contact & Support for Field Sales
- Managing the general sales mailbox and incoming enquiries;
- Immediately confirming receipt of customer requests;
- Contacting customers by phone to clarify or further explore requests;
- Ensuring a professional and customer-focused first impression;
- Identifying cross-sell and upsell opportunities for the field sales team.
Quotations & Commercial Process Management
- Translating customer requests into suitable technical solutions;
- Independently preparing technical and commercial standard quotations;
- Coordinating specifications, pricing, and delivery times with suppliers;
- Actively following up on submitted quotations;
- Ensuring complex processes are transferred completely and on time to the Tender Engineer.
Maintenance & Service Coordination
- Coordinating maintenance activities for equipment delivered by customers;
- Aligning schedules with internal technical colleagues;
- Keeping customers informed about progress and delivery;
- Recognising commercial opportunities arising from maintenance activities.
Relationship Management & Growth
- Actively advising customers on suitable solutions;
- Building technical knowledge of products, services, and applications;
- Contributing to long-term customer relationships;
- Occasionally participating in customer visits or trade shows;
- Actively contributing to the company’s growth ambitions.
Job Requirements
Education and Knowledge
- MBO-4 or Bachelor working and thinking level, preferably in a technical field;
- Knowledge of MS Office and Teams;
- Experience with CRM and ERP systems;
- Affinity with maritime, offshore, or water-related applications is a plus.
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in a technical inside sales role;
- Experience with rental or asset-driven business is a plus;
- Experience managing multiple commercial processes simultaneously;
- Strong command of both Dutch and English, spoken and written.
